Postoperative Recovery Not Yet Complete, Second Hearing for Nadiem Postponed

Jakarta, December 23, 2025 - The second hearing in the alleged corruption case involving the selection of Chrome OS/Chromebook has been postponed until January 5, 2026, due to Nadiem Makarim's health condition, which still requires serious medical attention following a fistula ani surgery. The doctor's recommendation indicates that the condition requires a recovery period of at least 21 days from the time the surgery was performed on December 12, 2025.
Nadiem is known to have undergone three surgeries for the same condition and has experienced complications in recent months, including reinfection, abscess, and recurring bleeding. Information regarding this health condition was not only provided by the doctor from the hospital where Nadiem received medical attention and treatment but was also corroborated by the statement from the Attorney General’s doctor, Dr. Muhammad Yahya Sobirin, MARS, who conveyed it directly in the courtroom today.
Dr. Dodi S. Abdulkadir, BSc., S.E., M.H., representing the Legal Advisory Team, stated, “This hearing is an important stage for us and Nadiem to reveal the actual facts, and we have also prepared exceptions if the charges were to be read today. However, considering Nadiem's health condition, which is still under medical observation, the postponement of the hearing is unavoidable. We also express our gratitude to the Attorney General’s Office and the Central Jakarta Corruption Court Panel of Judges for granting permission to postpone this hearing again, providing Nadiem the opportunity to recover.” He emphasized Nadiem's commitment to fully and cooperatively participate in all stages of the trial once his health condition is declared stable according to medical recommendations.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ari Yusuf Amir, S.H., M.H., stated that so far, the Legal Advisory Team is still waiting for the complete list of evidence, which is an important requirement in drafting the defense. “Until now, we have not yet received the BPKP Audit Report regarding the Calculation of State Financial Losses, which was requested several weeks ago. The document is very crucial so that our client can optimally exercise the right to defense to prove that no corruption crime, as alleged, took place.”
