Public Figures, Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Accompany Nadiem Makarim at Trial

Jakarta, January 5, 2026. Nadiem Makarim attended today’s trial at Central Jakarta Corruption Court and submitted his Preliminary Objection to the Indictment filed by the Public Prosecutor related to the Education Digitalization Program case. 

Around 100 online motorcycle taxi drivers together with public figures such as Bambang Harymurti, Natalia Soebagjo, Prof. Dr. Etty Indriati, Prof. Dr. Winahyu Erwiningsih, DJ Donny, Christine Hakim, Jajang C. Noer, Mira Lesmana, Riri Riza, and Shanty Harmayn, were present showing their support for Nadiem. 

Prof. drg. Etty Indriati, Ph.D., a professor at Gadjah Mada University and author of Pola dan Akar Korupsi, stated, “I flew in from Yogyakarta to show my strong support for Nadiem. His innovative and progressive policies during his tenure, particularly digitalization, proved to be highly beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic in ensuring teachers as well as students could continue learning. I wish Nadiem all the best, and I have faith in the Judges’ independence to give a fair, transparent, lawful decision that is also in line with their conscience,” said Etty. 

Ramond Dony Adam, better known as DJ Donny, an activist and content creator, was also seen at court. “I sincerely hope that more facts can be brought to light by his legal counsel so that everything becomes clear and out in the open. Those who simply want to do their jobs right should not be criminalized. We have seen enough high-profile cases such as Mr. Tom, Mrs. Ira from ASDP, and others. I am confident that the Judges will act independently in delivering the fairest possible verdict, because what is at stake here is not the fate of a single individual, but the legal system in Indonesia,” he said. 

Meanwhile, Mulyono, Gojek’s first driver partner, along with a group of online motorcycle taxi drivers, was also present at the courthouse to express solidarity and support for Nadiem. “We are here in solidarity for our brother. Mas Nadiem was the one who paved the way for us to be able to earn a living through Gojek. Being able to work, put food on the table, and send our children to school. Basically to keep our households going. For us, Insyaallah, Mas Nadiem is a good person. All we want is fair law enforcement, so no wrong person gets punished,” said Mulyono.
